• Tunnels: Termites create pencil sized mud tunnels on exposed wood and exterior foundations. These are often uncovered during remodeling work. If you see tunnels like this, you definitely have termites.
• Sound: If the wood you are concerned about isn’t exposed, termite tunnels are impossible to see. But because the termites eat the wood from the inside out, it will have a hollow sound when tapped with something like a knife handle or a flat-head screwdriver.
